History
Amity University was founded on March 24, 2005, by the UP Vidhan Sabha through the Amity University Uttar Pradesh Act, 2005. The university’s roots are in the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation.
Setting a pioneering pattern, it became India’s inaugural private university to introduce reservations and merit-based scholarships for students. By 2011, it boasted a student body exceeding 80,000 enrolled across 240 diverse programmes.
The institution and the BSE Institute, a division owned by the Bombay Stock Exchange, signed a memorandum of collaboration in September 2015, marking an important milestone. This partnership paved the way for the introduction of a 2-year distance learning MBA programme focusing on global financial markets, catering to both students and working professionals.
Expanding its global footprint, in September 2016, Amity University ventured into the United States by acquiring the 170-acre campus of St. John’s University in Oakdale, New York. Currently, in partnership with Adelphi University, it offers a range of Global MBA and graduate programs at the New York Campus.
