Anglia Ruskin College

Overview

Undergraduate and postgraduate paths are available at ARU College (formerly known as Cambridge Ruskin International College or CRIC) for students who do not fulfil the prerequisites for direct admission, who have not already studied the subjects needed for their desired degree, or who have taken a break from school. If a student completes the ARU College track, they are guaranteed admission to an ARU degree programme.

Commencing immediately. Enrollment at ARU College enrols you in the same status as a direct student at ARU, granting you access to all services and facilities as well as the issuance of an ARU ID card. This is because ARU College functions as a faculty of the university.

History

They began in 1858, when John Ruskin, a patron, art critic, and philanthropist, founded the Cambridge School of Art. Their current Cambridge campus still has its roots in the original art school, which evolved into Anglia Ruskin University (or ARU for short).

The affiliation of ARU with several educational institutions has grown over the years. Included in this group are CCAT in Cambridgeshire and the Essex Institute of Higher Education, originally known as the Chelmer Institute (established from Mid-Essex Technical College and Brentwood College of Education), another name for this institution. Before its 1992 rebranding as Anglia Polytechnic University, these institutions were formerly known as Anglia Polytechnic.
