Notably, BIMM produced its first unsigned artist to top the iTunes charts, Kate Welsh, between 2006 and 2010. During this period, BIMM Bristol opened its doors, welcoming notable artists like James Bay and Lemmy. Subsequently, from 2011 to 2015, the university witnessed significant expansion with the addition of BIMM Dublin, Manchester, and Berlin. This period also saw renowned personalities like Brian May visiting Brighton and the rebranding of Tech Music School to BIMM London.
The years from 2016 to 2020 were marked by notable achievements, including BIMM graduate Natacha Bent being inducted into the “Women in Music” Roll of Honour, visits from industry icons Nile Rodgers and Stormzy to the colleges, and noteworthy accolades such as graduate Ella Mile winning a Grammy and George Ezra clinching the Best British Male Artist award at the Brit Awards. In recent developments, BIMM introduced its Spotify Scholarship initiative and graduates from Fontaines D.C. earned the prestigious title of Best Band in the World at the NME Awards.
