One of the most gorgeous campuses in the world is yours for the taking at Royal Holloway. Royal Holloway, situated on London’s outskirts, provides students with the “best of both worlds”: a safe and friendly campus community with convenient access to one of the world’s top student cities.

Two progressive thinkers who advocated for academic freedom and diversity laid the groundwork for what is now the University. Their ideas are still relevant today. University Royal Holloway values diversity and encourages students and faculty to come from all over the world to study and teach here, fostering an environment that is both intellectually stimulating and culturally rich.

History

The two colleges that make up modern-day University Royal Holloway were established separately, by social activists Elizabeth Jesser Reid and Thomas Holloway.

London’s Bedford College first welcomed students in 1849, and the majestic Founder’s Building at Royal Holloway College was unveiled by Queen Victoria in 1886 and is the campus’s centerpiece today.

The colleges combined in 1985 to establish what is presently known as the University of London Royal Holloway after joining the University of London in 1900.

Location

Located between Windsor and Heathrow on the outskirts of London, University Royal Holloway’s Egham campus spans 135 wooded acres. The town center and all of its restaurants, pubs, and stores are easily accessible on foot. The campus is conveniently located, with central London only 35 minutes distant by train and Windsor likewise just a short trip away.

The campus is the perfect blend of a laid-back atmosphere and exciting student life. Royal Holloway is “renowned for its friendly and supportive environment,” according to the Independent.
