The Royal Veterinary College is the oldest English-speaking veterinary school in the world. It was founded in 1791, and it joined the University of London in 1949.

History

The Royal Veterinary College has been around longer than any other veterinary school in the English-speaking world, having been founded in 1791. For the past three years running, the RVC has maintained its position as the world’s leading veterinary school, according to the QS World Rankings by Subject.

In addition to the RCVS in the UK, the EAEVE in the EU, the AVMA in the USA and Canada, and the SAVC for South Africa, the RVC is one of very few veterinary schools globally whose veterinary medicine curricula are accredited. Accreditation from ACOVENE and the RCVS are indicators of quality veterinary nursing education.

The Royal Society of Biology granted Advanced Accreditation to the new MSci Biological Sciences (Wildlife Health Sciences) track at RVC in addition to the other RVC Biosciences programmes in 2021. This includes the BSc Biosciences programmes with placement years and the MSci pathways.

Location

There are two locations of the Royal Veterinary College. Students in their first two years attend classes in London, while those in their third and final years attend classes in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.
