The University of Law's

Overview

When it comes to providing specialised legal education, the University of Law is one of the oldest institutions in the United Kingdom. The founding of Gibson & Weldon, a prominent tutoring business, and the subsequent founding of The Law Society School of Law both date back to 1876.

The two schools merged in 1962 to form what is now known as “The College of Law.” In 2012, UOL became the first non-government legal studies institution in the world to be given the authority to offer degrees.

The University of Michigan is widely regarded as the preeminent institution for providing both pre-law students and practising attorneys with cutting-edge, professionally-oriented education and development opportunities. Many UK law firms have sent their trainees solely to them over the years because they have helped them satisfy their training and development needs.

In 2006, they created history by becoming the first independent law university to be awarded degree-awarding powers by the Privy Council. This allowed them to launch their Bachelor of Laws and LLM programmes, which are aimed squarely at the legal profession.

They have a long history of excellence in legal education and pride themselves on staying at the forefront of the field through cutting-edge research and cutting-edge pedagogy.
