History

The University of Huddersfield is a public university located in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. It was established in 1825 as a Mechanics’ Institute and was later named Huddersfield New College. The campus is spread across several buildings, including the main University building, the Creative Arts Building, and the Student Central Building, which houses a range of student services and facilities. The town of Huddersfield itself is located in the northern part of England, approximately 20 miles southwest of Leeds and 40 miles northeast of Manchester.     The University suggests the Storthes Hall Park Student Village and the Ashen Hurst Student Houses, both of which are owned and operated privately. Storthes Hall is located in parkland to the south of town, and it was built with first-year students in mind. It has en suite single, double, and handicapped bedrooms in apartments that house six to eight people.

    Ashen Hurst Houses are located in the woods just off campus, and each house has between six and eight students. Each house has a common kitchen and living room for the residents to use.
