History

University is ranked in the Guardian University Guide 2020 among the top 20 UK universities and is graded Gold, the

Since Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II opened the University of Lincoln‘s Brayford Pool Campus in 1996, more than £ 350
million has been invested in the buildings and
facilities, and although the institution can trace its history back to 1861, it is rated as one of the best new
universities in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019. The University has approximately
16,000 students across its four academic colleges, covering topics in the arts, technology, business and social
sciences, with more than 300 courses available at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in total.
University of Lincoln has won a string of awards for its approach to working with employers, especially its
partnership with the global engineering company Siemens in creating the Lincoln School of
Engineering, which was the first dedicated facility of its kind produced in the UK for more than 20 years. The

Students have the support of their personal tutor during their studies, who can provide mentoring, advice, and inspiration to help students get the most out of their university experience. Accommodation
New undergraduate students who confirm Lincoln as their first choice before the deadline are guaranteed accommodation by the university. Most student accommodation at the university is either on the Brayford Pool Campus or only a short distance away, right in the heart of Lincoln's city center.
The Student Village contains the on-campus housing of the University and consists of two waterfront complexes that are purpose-built: Lincoln Courts and Cygnet Wharf. Transport
The main campus of the university is situated in the center of the city, which means that students do not need a car for transport. They can just ride or walk to the campus. Cyclists have on-site bike shops and the main train and bus stations in the city are less than half a mile from the campus. The busy high street of Lincoln is only a five-minute walk from the campus.
Lincoln and London have regular direct rail services, with King's Cross Station less than 2 hours away by train. Lincoln is also well linked to major cities such as Nottingham, Sheffield and Hull in the area, as well as to regional airports.
