Overview
The University of Westminster originated from the Royal Polytechnic, which was founded in 1838. The institution is distributed among four campuses, with three of them located in central London.
The institution enrols a diverse student body of over 19,000 individuals hailing from more than 160 countries. These students are enrolled in a wide range of academic programmes, including undergraduate and postgraduate studies, as well as specialised professional programmes and short courses.
The subjects prioritise vocational training and emphasise longer courses that incorporate work-based skills and practical application. Undergraduates have the opportunity to engage in research activities while pursuing their degree, and the university has gained recognition for its exceptional media studies and fashion programmes, which are often regarded as among the top in the world.
Westminster, which marked its 175th anniversary in 2013, continues to make substantial investments in various facilities, including dormitories and the restoration of one of Britain's earliest cinemas located within the Regent Campus.
History
A number of colleges and institutes have become part of Anglia Ruskin University over the years. They include the Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology and the Essex Institute of Higher Education. These colleges merged to become Anglia Polytechnic and then Anglia Polytechnic University.
The university has four large campuses in the United Kingdom. They are: Cambridge, Chelmsford, London, and Peterborough. In recent years, the university has invested more than £115 million in its campuses and curriculum development.
In the upcoming future, the university will be involved in establishing Anglia Ruskin University, Peterborough, which will be a brand new university for the city and open its doors in September 2022.
The university has a number of partner institutions all over the United Kingdom and overseas, along with the four major universities. The institution wants to give students a high-class education while staying in their home country. They formed their first partnership in the 1990s.
