Worcester’s recent opening of a 2,000-seat stadium has boosted the city’s prominence in the fields of nursing and midwifery, psychology, teacher education, and sports science.

History

Years ego the foundation of the University of Worcester was first started through an urgent need for Teachers Training College for the University of Birmingham. It was initially based in an RAF base in Worcester. The Worcester College of Higher Education was formed in 1970 and got confirmed for degrees by the Council for National Academic Awards and opened the Peirson library. A new principal started three schools in 1978. Dorma Urwin became the new principal of the institute in 1992, along with him Coventry University decided to certify the degree courses.

The college started to provide degree awards in 1997 and became the University College Worcester in that year by the Privy Council. In 2005, it got full university status and changes the name to ‘University of Worcester’. Through a prolonged strategy, the university developed and expanded many things in these years.
